The appeal of Black & White…

There is just something special about black and white.

Maybe because I learned photography first with black and white film, I’m not sure I know, but I’ve always held a special affinity for color-less images. I DO remember my college photography teacher telling the class that if you can make someone see color when it isn’t there, you’ve really done something special. I’m not sure that’s it. I think it is the mood that black and white carries with it. More drama? More attention to detail without the crutch of color? I really don’t know, but I love it and love that I still get to teach a black and white film class every semester these 40 or so years later.

I’ll add more black and white photos to this post as I take them or remember past photos so keep checking back in.
